I'm bored

Kids can be bored they have nothing to do for a few minutes:

Conversation from yesterday:
Z: Summer school is fun, except for the first half hour.
Mom: Why? What happens then?
Z: There's nothing to do. I'm so bored.

A conversation, one day later:
Dad: I'm going in late today. Should I drop you off later?
Z: No, we have a lot of fun in the first half hour.
Dad: But, didn't you tell mom that...
Z: Well, we realized we could play wodge-ball.
Dad: Dodge-ball?
Z: No, wodge-ball. It's like dodge-ball, but we play it near the wall!

Sometimes, the solution to a kids boredom is to offer some examples of what they might do. Sometimes, one just has to say: "well, think about what you can do". And, finally, sometimes it's best to say nothing, and they'll solve their own problem.
